Overview

Haridwar city positioned in the foothills of the Shivalik, represents the point where the Ganga reaches the plains. It is famous for being blessed by the trinity of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. The name Haridwar (Hardwar) has been derived from two words, ‘Har’ means Shiva, ‘Hari’ means Vishnu, and Dwar means gate. Haridwar is thus the gateway to the two holy shrines of Shiva and Vishnu in Badrinath and Kedarnath, respectively. Places To See in Haridwar are here-ki -Pairi ghat is one of the most sacred Ghats in India as Maha arti is performed on this ghat every evening. Haridwar is famous for its Ganga Aarti that is celebrated at 7 pm each night. Other places to see include Mayapuri and Kankhal, which are near Haridwar. Mansa Devi is a temple located on top of a hill called the Bilwa Parvat. One can reach the temple, by the rope way or one can take the normal trekking route to the top.

Rishikesh is virtually a town of saints, sages and scholars. Rishikesh is a rare religious center located on the right bank of river Ganga. There are a number of Ashrams where religious discourses are held. The place is also a renowned center for yoga teachings. Rishikesh is also an attraction for foreign pilgrims who want to know about Hinduism and who want to spend some time close to the Lord. 43-kms from Dehradun & 24-kms from Haridwar, Rishikesh is situated amidst a calm environment, impressive water front, dense forest and hills. Apart from being known as the land of Gods, Rishikesh is also the Mecca for peace seeker through Yoga and meditation.

Itinerary

DAY 1 – Day 1: Delhi – Haridwar (220 km | 6 hours)
Arrive at Delhi airport/railway station. You’ll be transferred to Haridwar in air-conditioned vehicle. Check into the hotel. Haridwar is one of the major holiest places for Hindus. Haridwar means a ‘gateway to God’. There are many place of historic and religious importance in Haridwar and its neighboring towns. You can attend the most sacred ‘Ganga Aarti’ in evening at Har Ki Pauri. Stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 – Day 2: Haridwar
After breakfast, visit Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi Temple (both of which are mountain top temples on either side of the holy Ganga) by rope way or on foot. Later visit the Daksheswara Mahadev Temple(temple dedicated to Lord Shiva). In the evening, return back to the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 – Day 3: Haridwar – Rishikesh (21 km | 30 min)
After an early morning Breakfast, proceed to Rishikesh. You will be directly taken to the Neelkanth Mahadev temple (35 Km | 1 Hour from Rishikesh). The temple is ancient and situated at an altitude of 1675 m. The temple is said to be built after a great mythological episode when Lord Shiva drank the venom that came from the ocean during ‘Samudra Manthan’. This caused Lord Shiva’s throat to turn blue and thus, the name Neelkanth. After darshan visit the Laxman Jhula. In the evening, return back to the hotel. Stay overnight at hotel in Rishikesh.

DAY 4 – Day 4: Departure to Delhi (230 km | 3.5 hrs)
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Delhi airport/railway station. Tour Ends. Hope all above is in order.
