TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL GUWAHATI DRIVE TO BHALUKPONG (240KMS/5/6 HRS. DRIVE)

Arrive Guwahati by Air/train, meet and greet at Airport, after warm welcome you will be driven to Bhalukpong en-route visit Maha Mritunjay Temple, Upon arrival check in to the hotel, in case time permits, local excursions.

DAY 02: BHALUKPONG-DIRANG (130 KMS/4-5 HRS DRIVE)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Dirnag, approx. 6 hours drive

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

TRIBES & BELIEFS

The culture of Arunachal Pradesh is truly varied in the sense that the state has 26 major tribes including sub-tribes. Every tribe has their own unique set of traditions and customs. The major tribes of Arunachal are: Adi, Galo, Aka, Apatani, Nyishi, Tagins, Bori, and Bokar etc.

The sun and the moon are the presiding deities of the major tribes who follow the Donyi-Polo religion (the name stands for sun and moon). The West Kameng and Tawang district are mainly inhabited by the Tibetan influenced Monpa and Sherdukpen tribe. In Lohit district it is the Khampti and the Singpho tribe. All these four major tribes are followers of two different sects of Buddhism (Mahayana Hinayana). The other tribes are basically followers of ancient beliefs with animal worship being quite prominent amongst them.

 

Dirang: (42 km from Bomdila, 1497m above msl) Hot water springs where people take bath for curing skin ailments, Apple and Kiwi orchards, National Yak Research and Breeding Centre at Nigmadung, Sheep Breeding Farm and Sangti Valley where Siberian black necked storks visit during winter are the places of tourist interest

After completing the ILP formalities at Bhalukpung,, enroute visit the Tippi Orchidarium (closed on Sunday and Central and state holidays) It is situated on the west bank of Kameng river (also known as Jia Bharoli in Assam) surrounded by high hills covered with semi ever green tropical rain forest vegetation. It stretches over an area of 10 hectares of flat land comprising of office buildings, orchidaria, tissue culture lab., Museum, herbarium and garden. Visit Dirang Monastery and check-in to the hotel

DAY 03: DIRANG-TAWANG (140 KMS 5-6 HRS DRIVE)

Breakfast at hotel, visit Shangti Valley and leave for one of the most popular tourist destinations, Tawang.
You will be driving through the beautiful valley of Dirang to reach Sela Pass (13703 ft). En-route bubbling river and colorful tribes will greet you. On reaching spend some time around the paradise lake (Sella Lake), which is the land of the Monpa tribes and a major center of the Mahayana Buddhism. Later, we will continue our drive to Tawang. On the way we will stop to visit 1962 Indo-China War Memorial, which is dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, of the 4th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles Infantry Regiment. He showed his heroism by fighting and holding the attack of China back for 72 hours all alone. Singh remained at his post at an altitude of about 10,000 feet before succumbing to an enemy bullet during that bloody winter war. The memorial is located 25 km before Tawang and is surrounded by scenic terrain just below the Sela Pass.  This is the place where you can some eatables like Samosa, Pastry, Dosa kind of stuffs and also you can buy some warm clothes in case you are not carrying (this is Military Canteen, warm clothes are subject to availability)

Also visit Jung Fall (fall is active during rainy season and during winter falls are dry)

Later drive to Tawang & check-in to the hotels

Tawang: The area of the district is approximately 2085 sq. km. bordered by Tibet in the North, Bhutan in the South-West and Sela ranges separate West Kameng district in the East. Elevations range between 6,000 to 22,000 feet (6,700 m), and inhabitants are found at lower altitude, where they enjoy a cool temperate climate. Tawang is both historically and naturally endowed. It is located at a distance of 183 Kms from Bomdila and 140 Kms from Dirnag and is situated at an altitude of 3500 metres above sea level. The natural beauty and solitude of Gudpi and Chong-Chugmi ranges, Tawang chu River and Tawang valley are very mesmerizing. The inhabitants of the districts are all of Monpa tribes except Shyo village which is dominated by people of Tibetian origin.

There are two major religious festivals of the Monpas viz “LOSAR” and “TORGYA”. Both festivals are celebrated once annually. The LOSAR s celebrated to the commencement of New year. Every third year of Torgya, the festival of Dungyur is celebrated. Both “Dungyur and Torgya” festivals are celebrated at the premises of the Tawang Monastery with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm. There are many beautiful grlacial lakes in and around Tawang with crystal blue waters such as Sela lake, P.T.Tso lake, Sangetser lake, Banggachang lake and many more. These remain frozen in winter while in summer they become haven for migratory birds.

DAY 04: IN TAWANG

Breakfast at hotel & Proceed for excursion of Bumla Pass China Border and Segetsar Lake (Madhuri Lake) & PTSO Lake – full day excursion visit

All the places are under the surveillance of Military and all canteens are maintained by them at very reasonable price.  First visit , PTSO lake later for Y Junction (here you can get some tea/Coffee and snacks) drive to Bumala Pass altitude 16200 feet  (here also you can get tea/Coffe and some Snacks) please note, this is high altitude zone, please take proper medicine to avoid health issue. After Bumla Pass, drive to Sengester Lake (Madhuri Lake) here also you can some snacks like Cholle Bhature/Momos/Maggie/Samosa Tea/Coffee etc.

 

Our vehicles are not allowed for PTSo Lake and Madhuri Lake sightseeing at Tawang, hence, guest has to hire local vehicle and our driver will assist the guests, but please note that we or our driver have no control for the same. Additional cost of hiring vehicle at Tawang: Between Rs.5000/- and Rs.5500/-

Late afternoon return to Tawang, later visit Tawang Monastery, and Budha Park Later in the evening  also enjoy sound and light show.

DAY 05: TAWANG-BOMDILA (KMS/6-7 HRS DRIVE)

Breakfast at hotel, visit Tawang Monastery Drive to Bomdila, Bomdila is located at 27.25°N 92.4°E. It has an average elevation of 2217 metres (7273 feet). It is 109 km from Bhalukpong and is the headquarters of West Kameng District. The place is inhabited by tribes like Aka (Hrusso), Miji (Sajalong), Monpa, Sherdukpen, and Khawas. The craft centers, monasteries, ethnographic museum and emporium etc. are worth visiting. One can also watch various snow clad mountain peaks from Bomdila including the Kangto and Gorichen Peaks which are the highest peak of the state. With snow clad Himalayan mountain ranges and lush greenery to flaunt its natural beauty and various crafts to boast of its rich culture and lifestyle, Bomdila ranks amongst the leading tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. Bomdila is a photographer’s delight, as the snow-capped mountain ranges of Himalayas offer spectacular views. To enjoy the essence of nature in its varied forms, you could not think of a better place than Bomdila.

Later in afternoon proceed for the visit of Bomdila Monestry  which was constructed by Tsona Gontse Rinpoche proceed for the visit of Bomdila, the 12th reincarnate. The monastery is one of the most famous attractions of Bomdila and was inaugurated in 1965. Bomdila monastery is abode to Buddhist Monks and Lamas. It is believed to be the monastery here in Bomdila is exact replica of Tsona Gontse Monaster. After visit check in to the hotel, Rest of the day at leisure to explore the valley

DAY 06: BOMDILA-TEZPUR (APPROX. 150 KMS/4/5 HRS DRIVE)

Breakfast we will drive to Tezpur (in case guest wants can enjoy rafting in Jia Bhorali river on Direct payment)

DAY 07: TEZPUR-ZIRO (265 KMS/7/8 HRS DRIVE)

Ziro: Blessed with an unmatched scenic grandeur and hiding in its store, a number of enticing trekking trails, Ziro makes for a perfect destination for trekkers and hikers satiate their adventurous desires; ‘Dolo Mando’ situated atop a hill near the valley is a must visit hiking destination and offers breath-taking vistas of old Ziro town fringed with verdant forests and snow laden Himalayas

DAY 08: IN ZIRO

Breakfast at hotel Proceed for excursion of Ziro valley and its nature Paddy field and Pine Tress, It would truly make as one of the best places to see and feel nature in its unpretentious form. Holidays in Ziro are absolutely considered incomplete without embarking on an interesting sightseeing tour in the city visiting its famous tourism places which, ‘Sidheshwar Nath Shiv Linga’, ‘Tarin Fish Farm’ and ‘Pine Grove’.

To satisfy the shopaholics, there are a couple of tribal markets to explore in the valley; Ziro’s bamboo & cane items and beautiful Apatani handlooms are some of the best in the region and make for a perfect buy.

DAY 09: ZIRO-ITANAGAR AIRPORT (140KMS/4 HRS DRIVE)
